Project Aim:
Upgrade the existing product through internal production ability. Consider production cost and quality to innovate a new version to satisfy customers' requirements.
Product position:
RFID cards or key fobs are the physical keys of electrical locks, especially for the residential and hospitality segment. However, the traditional monochrome plastic key fobs couldn’t meet the expectations of construction companies already, because the texture feeling of plastic is cheaper than leather or metal and they attempt to create a luxurious environment for their customers. Therefore, the texture of this version must be different from plastic, while retaining the durable features of plastic.

Conducting Processes
1. 2D and 3D sketch:
1Considering both printing machines’ limitations and target customers’ preferences.
2. 3D render and CNC ABS Mock-up:
2For simulating the real texture by the printing machine, we choose wood and leather textures to test performance. However, the result is not good for wood basis, cause this pattern is too complicated to produce efficiently. So, we go for leather patterns and get the incredible result.
3. Adjustment:
3Methods - Wipe the surface with 95% Ethanol and scrape with a pencil to determine the abrasion resistance. (ISO/ASTM available)
4. Tooling and Printing Test:
